Said The Whale: Mother

"Things are going to change like 100 degrees." How very true of life. I love that line.

If you can't tell that Said The Whale are one of the most fun-loving bands ever, then you're clearly missing the picture...punny, eh!? These Canadian savants, British Colombian geniuses, these musical masters, just had their new album Hawaii come out on Tuesday, and everyone should go get it! Upbeat, at times beautifully slow and tender, Said The Whale has killed it once more and I can't wait for everything in store for them! Snag the CD on iTunes here, and on Amazon here!!!!!!!! Also, the band sent out a lovely e-mail that said some really cool and inspiring things about the affect actually buying artists music can have. There e-mail stated:
A quick word about purchasing music, if I may, just to clarify a few things:

1. When you pay for our music (rather than illegally downloading it), we actually receive quite a large portion of that money, contrary to some theories we've heard.  We are on an independent record label, so there is no "big company" taking a huge cut and screwing us in any way.  It's just the five of us and a small label who has all sunk a lot of money into our career. You paying for our music is HUGELY beneficial to the longevity of our band.
2. People sometimes ask us what method of purchase is the most beneficial to us - the answer is that it doesn't really matter.  Most retailers (be it online or physical) take approximately the same percentage, so just make a purchase wherever you feel most comfortable purchasing.
3. Spotify and other streaming services pay us essentially nothing, but they are great for discovering new music!

I think this is an awesome message that more small bands need to share. BUY YOUR MUSIC PEOPLE! It lets these bands keep doing what they love and allows them to make the music that you love!

'Mother' is a breakneck pace song that is gorgeous, brilliant, and sums up the breathless and wonderful flow of 'Hawaii'. Enjoy!

'I Could Smoke' is straight up fun.

I'll stop with 'Oh K, Okay', because next thing I know I will have shared the entire album. I'TS ALL SO GOOD! :) Love you all!
