Every American Indie Rock band needs to cut loose and dress up once in a while, eh!?
Opening this miraculous lyrical and aural mile of sound, Cold War Kids sing out, "I was supposed to do great things" atop a riff throbbing with a restless intensity. The song pulses along beautifully but breathlessly, until the gorgeous 1:53 fade that slows down enough to remind both us and the song to, "Come up for air, come up for air, come up". The 3:00 mark until the end is my absolute favorite, but is far too short, and this miracle mile is over before it has even begun.
