The Knocks ft. Mandy Lee: Midnight City (M83 Cover)

We've all heard M83's iconic, distorted screaming that worms its way into your psyche, into your very being, wraps itself around the part of your brain that puts tunes and lyrics on an infinite loop in your mind, hijacks common sense and public etiquette, and proceeds to cause ceaseless "woo, wa woo, woo wha's". No? I'm the only one who does an awkward scream/hiccup rendition of it? Hmmm. If you haven't heard it, here you are good sir or madam, enjoy...I totally did not remember the beautiful horns at the end, those are sweet.
I would maybe hurry up on getting this song, because M83 is dreaming.

Now what I want to tell you about is The Knocks remix of 'Midnight City'. Unlike everyone and their uncles' dubstep, trance, jumpstyle, hardstyle, trap, techno, or acoustic remix of Midnight City, this is a completely new song. Mandy Lee on lyrics, an altered (and now much happier and less creepy sounding) background "woo, wa woo, woo wha", which is now more like, "ba bum du daa, ba bumm du dada, and basically a fantastic reworking of an already fantastic song. While recognizable as M83's brainchild, I give major props to The Knocks for taking it completely in their own direction. Check it out, play it at midnight in a city, make a scooter gang, eat bacon, do something adventurous, order burritos at Chipotle, but most of all, enjoy a FREE DOWNLOAD (what!? So nice of them!) of this.
